United States' Rainiest Cities
Wettest Weather
Cities in the United States that receive the most precipitation each year don't necessarily have an exceptionally large number of rainy days.
Among the 40 largest cities, Cleveland most often has days when it's raining or snowing, averaging 156 days a year. But Cleveland ranks 14th in the total precipitation it receives annually, with 38.7 inches.
Memphis, on the other hand, with nearly 55 inches of rain or snow each year, on average, receives more precipitation than any major US city. Yet Memphis has far fewer wet days than many other cities. Memphis ranks just 19th among large cities in the number of days with precipitation, at 107 days a year.
