Average October Wind Speeds in Ireland
The tables below give the average wind speed and the number of days with gales in October for cities and other places around Ireland.
Each location has an average wind speed for the month in miles per hour (MPH) and kilometres per hour (KPH). Plus there's a total of the mean number of days with gale gusts.
Gales are defined here as winds with speeds greater than 62 KPH (39 MPH or 34 knots). Gale force winds break twigs off trees and make it difficult to walk.
All the numbers here are based on weather data collected from 1981 to 2010.
You can jump to a separate table for each region of the country: Ulster, Munster, Leinster and Connacht. Ulster province includes the counties that border Northern Ireland. Munster province covers the southern part of Ireland. Leinster province is in the east, while Connacht (or Connaught) is in the west.
