The first snowfall of winter for Rangeley usually arrives in October. About once every three or four years, October has no snow, delaying the start of the snow season until November.
The season's last snowfall typically happens in April. In rare years, May also gets a little snow.
Rangeley is normally free of snow every year from June to September.
How Many Snowstorms Rangeley Gets
Close to half the days of snowfall in Rangeley leave just a skiff, amounting to less than an inch, of fresh snow on the ground. For 32 days a year on average, the amount of new snow totals at least an inch.
Snowstorms of over five inches a day normally occur five or six times annually. Major blizzards that dump ten inches or more in one day happen on average once a year. Snow events this severe can descend on Rangeley anytime from December to April.
How Much Snow Normally Accumulates in Rangeley
Throughout winter, Rangeley has at least an inch of snow on the ground.
Snow mostly accumulates from January to March. Typically, on over 20 days in each of those months, the snow covering Rangeley gets to ten or more inches deep.
