August Weather in Jamaica

The weather stations sit near sea level, with one exception. Cinchona Botanical Gardens is in the Blue Mountains of eastern Jamaica, at an elevation of 1,493 metres (4,898 feet).

Hurricanes and Tropical Storms

With hurricane season in full swing during August, there's about a four percent chance of a hurricane approaching western Jamaica, and two percent in eastern Jamaica. Throughout the country, there's a six percent probability this month that a named tropical storm comes within 100 miles (165 kilometres).
